What each one can actually do
Claude’s built-in connectors are good, and for a lot of people they’re enough. We’d rather you knew exactly where they stop than found out halfway through a task.
Everything below was checked by hand against both products on 9 October 2026. That check moved several rows toward the built-in connectors: deleting a draft, trashing a doc, creating a folder, and Jira and Confluence, where this table had left out Claude’s Atlassian connector. One moved toward us: we copy Drive files now. The rows on querying and formatting sheets, trashing mail, sharing, renaming and moving files, and Jira attachments are new.

| Spreadsheets have no connector of their own. They come through Drive, and the Drive connector ships no tool that changes a file's content, for any file type. It can rename a file or move it. | ||

| This one surprised us. The built-in connector does make a real Google Slides deck. It just arrives with one blank slide, an empty title and an empty subtitle, because a Google-native deck with content is refused. You get the container and you fill it in yourself. The connector will convert a .pptx you upload, if you have the file. | ||

| The built-in connector sends, replies and forwards. It gained those verbs in August 2026, and this table claimed otherwise until 18 September 2026: if you read the older version of this row anywhere, including here, it was wrong. It also deletes a draft, which this table denied until 9 October 2026. It labels a whole thread in one call, where we work a message at a time, so a long thread means one call per message. It moves a message or a whole thread to the trash, and we have no tool for that. And it gained full label management earlier in 2026, so it can label, star, mark read and archive. What is left on our side is one thing: saving an attachment straight to Drive. | ||

On a single account, the built-in connector is the better calendar tool, and it isn't close. Its event creation does recurring events, room booking, attachments, and custom reminders, where ours creates plain events. It can RSVP and suggest meeting times, and list the other calendars on the account. Ours can't. What we add is span: both your calendars reachable in one request, without either account having to share anything with the other. Free/busy runs one lookup per account and the assistant combines them. One honest caveat: the built-in connector sees every calendar the connected account can see. If you already share your personal calendar with your work account, that covers the cross-account case for you. Our advantage is for calendars you'd rather not share. | ||

| The built-in Drive connector is more capable than ours, and it is not close. It downloads a file, reads its metadata and who it is shared with, shares it with someone new, lists what you opened recently and moves a file between folders. We do none of those. Our advantage was never Drive breadth. It is that we can change the files Drive gives you access to. | ||
