Claude reads your spreadsheet. We let it edit one.
Append the rows, send the email, update the ticket. 87 tools across Google Workspace, Jira and Confluence behind one URL, and every write asks you first.

Watch the agent do the work.
No install, no config file, nothing to paste. Connect your Google account and ask.
Prefer to work in Claude or ChatGPT? Take the config and go. Same tools either way.
A scripted replay with sample data. This is the real Agent UI, approval gate included.
Claude reads the sheet you already keep, then hands you rows to paste in yourself.
DataToRAG changes the rows in that same file, after asking you first.
Claude's Drive connector can make you a deck, but it arrives empty. One slide, and the title is yours to type.
DataToRAG writes into the deck you already have, after asking you first.
Claude writes the email and stops at the draft.
DataToRAG sends it from your account, once you approve.
Claude's Gmail connector is signed in to one account, so the other inbox isn't there to search.
DataToRAG searches your work and personal accounts in the same turn.
Free, and the first twenty-five runs a month are on us.
Skills
Start with a skill, not a blank prompt.
Each one is a file you paste into Claude. It runs against your own accounts through the gateway.
“My inbox is full of things I don't need to read, and the two that matter are buried.”
A clean inbox and one self-addressed digest of what actually needs you, labelled so every action can be audited or undone.
“I have meetings across three calendars and I find out about conflicts the morning of.”
A week-ahead agenda across every account, with conflicts and unanswered invites called out.
“Our notes are scattered and half of them are stale. I want one place my agent can read and update.”
A Google Sheet your agent reads and writes reliably, without the traps that make spreadsheets bad interfaces.
Full comparison
What each one can actually do
Claude’s built-in connectors are good, and for a lot of people they’re enough. We’d rather you knew exactly where they stop than found out halfway through a task.
Everything below was checked by hand against both products on 7 August 2026. Calendar section re-verified 10 August 2026.
| Capability | Built-in | DataToRAG |
|---|---|---|
| Google Sheets | ||
| Read a sheet | Yes | Yes |
| Create a new sheet | Yes | Yes |
| Update a cell | No | Yes |
| Append a row | No | Yes |
| Add, rename or delete a tab | No | Yes |
| Clear a range | No | Yes |
| Spreadsheets have no connector of their own. They come through Drive, and the Drive connector ships no update tool of any kind, for any file type. | ||
| Google Docs | ||
| Read a doc | Yes | Yes |
| Create a new doc | Yes | Yes |
| Edit an existing doc | No | Yes |
| Delete a doc | No | Yes |
| Asked to fix a typo, the built-in connector reads the document, tells you what is wrong, and creates a new file with the correction. The original is untouched. | ||
| Google Slides | ||
| Create a deck | Yes | Yes |
| Put content in it | No | Yes |
| Read an existing deck | Yes | Yes |
| This one surprised us. The built-in connector does make a real Google Slides deck. It just arrives with one blank slide, an empty title and an empty subtitle, because creating a file with content is refused. You get the container and you fill it in yourself. | ||
| Gmail | ||
| Read and search mail | Yes | Yes |
| Write a draft | Yes | Yes |
| Send it | No | Yes |
| Reply in thread | No | Yes |
| Forward | No | Yes |
| Label, star, mark read, archive a message | Yes | Yes |
| Label or unlabel a whole thread at once | Yes | No |
| Delete a draft | No | Yes |
| Save an attachment to Drive | No | Yes |
| The built-in connector creates drafts it can neither send nor delete. It also files a whole thread in one call, where we work a message at a time, so a long thread means one call per message. It gained full label management recently, so it can label, star, mark read and archive, which it could not do earlier this year. If you read otherwise somewhere, including on this site before August 2026, that is out of date. | ||
| Google Calendar | ||
| Read and list events | Yes | Yes |
| Create, update, delete an event | Yes | Yes |
| Rich event creation: recurrence, rooms, attachments, reminders | Yes | No |
| RSVP to an invitation | Yes | No |
| Suggest a meeting time | Yes | No |
| Search events by keyword | Yes | Yes |
| List your other calendars | Yes | No |
| Free/busy lookup | No | Yes |
On a single account, the built-in connector is the better calendar tool, and it isn't close. Its event creation does recurring events, room booking, attachments, and custom reminders, where ours creates plain events. It can RSVP and suggest meeting times, and list the other calendars on the account. Ours can't. What we add is span: both your calendars reachable in one request, without either account having to share anything with the other. Free/busy runs one lookup per account and the assistant combines them. One honest caveat: the built-in connector sees every calendar the connected account can see. If you already share your personal calendar with your work account, that covers the cross-account case for you. Our advantage is for calendars you'd rather not share. | ||
| Google Drive | ||
| Search files | Yes | Yes |
| Read file content | Yes | Yes |
| Download file content | Yes | No |
| File metadata | Yes | No |
| Sharing permissions | Yes | No |
| Recently-opened files | Yes | No |
| Copy a file | Yes | No |
| Create a folder | No | Yes |
| The built-in Drive connector is more capable than ours, and it is not close. Five things it does that we do not. Our advantage was never Drive breadth. It is that we can change the files Drive gives you access to. | ||
| Beyond Google | ||
| Google Contacts | No | Yes |
| Google Tasks | No | Yes |
| Jira, read, create, comment, transition | No | Yes |
| Confluence, read, create, edit pages | No | Yes |
| The one that changes how you work | ||
| Work and personal account at the same time | No | Yes |
| The built-in connectors handle one Google account. If you live in a work inbox and a personal one, you disconnect and reconnect to switch. Every DataToRAG tool takes an account, so checking both inboxes is one request. | ||
If you mostly read, the built-in connectors are free and they’re good, so use them. The moment you need Claude to change something that already exists, or to work across more than one account, that is where we start.
The platform
Four ways to connect your data
Whether you want to plug in yourself, use a pre-built connector, need a custom integration, or run your own models, DataToRAG has you covered.
Self-Serve Gateway
Sign up, connect your data sources, and start querying through Claude or any MCP client. No engineering required.
Pre-Built Connectors
One-click integrations for Google Workspace, Salesforce, Databricks, Slack, and more. We handle the auth and schema mapping.
Custom MCP Servers
Our engineering team builds custom MCP servers for your proprietary databases, internal APIs, and legacy systems.
Custom Hosted LLMs
We deploy and host cost-saving custom models on our secure infrastructure without sacrificing quality. Wire directly into the gateway, so your data and inference never go to Claude or OpenAI.
Integrations

Multi-account support
Connect personal, shared, and team Google accounts under one MCP endpoint. Claude can search across all of them in a single prompt, or target a specific account when you need to.
Optimized tools
Naive API wrappers dump everything into your context. DataToRAG tools are tuned for token efficiency, so the same Gmail thread read costs a fraction of the tokens, which means longer conversations and smarter agents.

Cut token usage costs while keeping the same efficiency? Try our custom hosted LLMs. We can assist in finding the right cost effective model for your workload.
Secure LLMs For Your Most Sensitive Data
Inference runs on our secure infrastructure. Nothing is sent to a third-party model API. A perfect fit for regulated industries and sensitive internal data.
Managed Infrastructure
We handle deployment and ops for the model of your choice: GLM, Gemma, DeepSeek, Qwen, and other families. Connect it to your MCP gateway or access it with API Keys.
Cost Savings
Custom hosted models cut per-token costs versus commercial APIs. Scale usage and experience real cost savings without compromising on quality.
